Did this site for Tropicana while serving as Art Director at Riser Media. The site has since been taken down, but here’s the FWA archive.
This was absolutely NOT a one-man effort! We came together as a team, and pulled of something pretty amazing under hipster-jeans-tight deadlines.
I can’t legally put up the video we took to preserve the flash site in all it’s glory, and that’s a damn shame.
I spent days and nights designing and overseeing level design, sound effects, transitions, animations, performance, etc.
We really had a crunch near launch time to up the performance. Ended up compressing every last image in every itsy-bitsy element, and dynamically loading the music and all sound effects instead of direct-embed.
The site loaded in snap (no wait time), was a visual explosion, and left the execs at Tropicana/Pepsi with grins from ear to ear.
My absolute favorite element of the site was the hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation. Instead of cheating 2d images in Flash the cheap way, we hired a pro freelancer to come in and draw old-school fram-by-frame animations for the characters throughout the site and in games. Super-duper legit.
